The new pavilion - 2004

In 2003 we got permission to build a new pavilion, designed and project-managed by Martyn Ellis

This was the old hut which we had to demolish to make way for the new one - fond memories for some! Autumn 2003 and now it's gone! We also moved the old shed to a temporary position We had contractors to level the site and then we constructed the shuttering ready for concrete March 2004 and the ground was still soft so the concrete was pumped from the upper field Will the pump reach? Wellies were the order of the day as we had to wade in to spread the concrete around - this was the highlight of the day for some!! A home made steel tamper was used to level the concrete Finally the base was complete Two weeks later Warwick Buildings delivered and assembled the main building Definitely taking shape The veranda is added The following weekend we set to adding the finishing touches Paul and Alan glazing windows Denis measuring for the guttering Denis, Kathy and Becky fitting gutters Martyn fitting one of the downpipes We had a sight problem with the soakaway as it didn't!! So we had to dig a trench to drain it. Eventually we succeded In September we laid a base for a shooting shelter - the concrete lorry got stuck and we had to barrow the concrete the last 15 metres!!! We raised rafters and put purlins... ...then we started to pin the panels on the roof Brian and Pete waiting for the next panel Denis and Brian on the roof Jon and Brian laying and pinning roofing felt Pete, Denis and Brian wondering what's going on down below Pinning the edges The finished shooting shelter
