About the Society
Royal Leamington Spa has a long association with archery going back to at least the 1830s. The present club was founded in 1949 as the Warwick Archery Club, but it moved to Leamington in 1953. Over the years, it has included in its ranks some of the country’s finest archers, such as the great Roy Matthews, Ted Gamble and Joanne Edens.
Our current star is Naomi Folkard the country’s top junior lady from 1997 to 2001. As a senior she has represented GB on many occasions in international grand prix, and European and World Championships. She has been part of the Olympic team in Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), London (2012) and Rio (2016).
Many club members have and do shoot for Warwickshire in inter-county matches. We also compete as a club in county, regional and national leagues, and many members regularly compete in local and national open tournaments.
We have a thriving Junior membership and we also encourage all our juniors to participate in the league matches and tournaments.

Where are we?
The club has recently moved to Kenilworth (just north of Leamington Spa) and is based at Kenilworth Rugby Football Club (CV8 2AL). During the winter months we also shoot indoors at Trinity School (CV32 6NB) in the town. If you require more specific directions and maps please contact the club secretary.

RLSAS has a history dating back to 1949 and archery clubs in Leamington can be traced back until 1833. We have obtained records of a lot of this history and have documented on the following pages. Naomi Folkard
Naomi Folkard is one of the top lady recurve archers in the country, excelling in both target and field archery. She represented Great Britain in the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics.
